This morning we escorted Kate to a nearby taxi rank where we said good bye as she headed to the train station for her trip back to Madrid and onward to the UK.
Paul and I started the day with our usual Spanish breakfast and the worst coffee encountered on the trip so far. We then also headed for the train station and booked our tickets for our return from Santiago to Madrid. We then attended the bus station where we caught the 9:30 bus to Ponferrada.
On arrival we checked into the Albergue where we had to confess to walking all the way from Leon to Ponferrada in order to get a bed. After a late lunch we visited the Templar Castillo and shopped for supplies for tomorrow’s walk where we will hopefully leave the crowds behind as we commence the less travelled Camino Invierno towards Santiago.
The weather over the last week has been cool and ideal for walking with temperatures not exceeding 18 degrees. Today it was a cool start and a warm afternoon and hopefully the start of better temperatures over the next few days.
We saw many bronze statues today, but without Kate we had little interest in photographing them.
Beautiful photographs. Nice variety, lovely colours, good compositions.
